Pakistan Urges Immediate Halt to Middle East Hostilities at UN

Pakistan today issued an urgent appeal for an immediate cessation of hostilities in the Middle East, imploring all parties to exercise maximum restraint, prevent further escalation, and establish a permanent ceasefire.

The call was made by the country’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, during a Security Council briefing on the 1737 Committee (Iran).

The ambassador advocated for a swift return to dialogue to resolve the ongoing conflict in the region.

During the session, Ambassador Ahmad also reaffirmed the nation’s steadfast support for resolving the Iran nuclear issue through peaceful means.

He emphasised that diplomacy and dialogue must serve as the foundational principles for achieving a negotiated settlement on all contentious matters.

The envoy further stressed that any resolution must be in accordance with the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of all concerned parties.
