Pakistan will continue unwavering support for Palestinian struggle for self-determination and statehood: President Zardari

President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan will continue its unwavering support to the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and statehood. The President today emphasized Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people in a statement that took a poignant reflection on the 1948 Nakba, the mass displacement of Palestinians.

Zardari highlighted that the Nakba is not merely a historical event but an ongoing reality characterised by occupation, displacement, and the denial of rights. He urged the international community to sustain its support for the Palestinians, especially the refugees, underscoring the need to uphold their right of return as outlined in United Nations Resolution 194.

Pakistan has consistently advocated for the legitimate rights of Palestinians at the UN and other global platforms, guided by the principles of justice and international law. The President called on nations worldwide to support a fair, lasting solution to the Palestinian issue.

Additionally, Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s demand for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire in Gaza, alongside unrestricted humanitarian aid and accountability for Israel’s actions. He stressed the necessity of establishing an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.

Pakistan”s stance remains clear: the realisation of Palestinian rights is essential for peace and stability in the region.
