Pakistani Minister Issues Stark Warning at UN Summit, Says Humanity Will Pay Price for Climate Injustice

Federal Minister Dr Musadik Malik delivered a sobering message at a major United Nations environmental conference, cautioning that humanity will ultimately pay the price for injustices against nature and highlighting the severe risks faced by climate-vulnerable nations like Pakistan without urgent and united global action.

Addressing the Seventh Session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) in Nairobi, Kenya, the Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination stressed that developing countries continue to face disproportionate human, economic, and ecological losses from climate impacts.

“Climate action is no longer a choice, it is a necessity,” Dr. Malik stated in his address. “Nature will continue on its course. If we commit injustice against nature, nature will not care. It is we who will ultimately pay the price.’

He emphasized the critical need for robust adaptation measures, resilience-building, and equitable climate financing to support nations bearing the brunt of a crisis they did little to create.

The high-level global forum brought together representatives from all 193 UN Member States, scientific experts, and civil society under the theme ‘Advancing sustainable solutions for a resilient planet.’

Assembly deliberations focused on negotiating global policies, enhancing international environmental law, and accelerating sustainable development through global financing, cooperation, and science-based solutions.

The Federal Minister concluded by reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with the international community to advance effective solutions and to strengthen multilateral environmental governance.
