The initial design for Pakistan’s ambitious Integrated Energy Plan (IEP) has commenced a rigorous, multi-tiered approval journey through key government bodies, with the final endorsement not anticipated until next year.
According to an official report today, the first meeting of the Steering Committee dedicated to the final preparation of the plan”s high-level design was convened in the capital.
The crucial session was jointly chaired by the Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, and the Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervez Malik.
Officials confirmed that the interconnection between diverse energy sectors and their associated departments will serve as a fundamental component of the IEP”s strategic framework.
Following the Steering Committee”s endorsement, the high-level design is slated to be submitted to the Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) for its formal consent.
Once it secures clearance from the CCOE, the energy blueprint will be presented before the federal cabinet for its ultimate ratification, marking the final stage of the approval process.
