Parents must administer anti-polio drops to children: Secretary

QUETTA:Dr Rubaba Khan Buledi, Parliamentary Secretary for Health, said Sunday that the whole world had eradicated the polio disease, but in Pakistan, it still existed owing to lack of cooperation at community level.

In a statement issued, Buledi urged religious scholars to guide people in the light of teachings of the Islam and play their due role for the success of anti-polio drive.

She said that parents must administer anti-polio drops to their children during anti-polio drive to be launched from Monday (today). She added that polio teams deputed for administering anti-polio drops would achieve the set target in refusal areas in close cooperation with administration.

Buledi said administering anti-polio drops was not optional rather it was compulsory and its implementation would be ensured at any cost. Directing polio staff to forward report of non-cooperative administrative officer to Ministry of Health through the concerned District Health Officer (DHO), Buledi said that provision of foolproof security arrangements would be ensured in sensitive areas of the province during anti-polio drive.
