(Parliamentarians from ECO countries call for reforms in trade policies, protocols)

ISLAMABAD:Parliamentarians from Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) countries, who are in Pakistan for the General Conference of the Parliamentary Assembly of ECO here in the federal capital, have called for comprehensive reforms in trade policies and protocols to utilize the maximum trade potential of the ECO countries.

They were speaking at a session titled ‘Role of Women leadership in enhancing regional trade and business’ on the sidelines of the two-day Conference here on Tuesday. Parliamentary Secretary for Foreign Affairs Andleeb Abbas proposed establishment of an ECO Women Leadership Council to build an ECO virtual regional chain for promotion of trade, commerce, cultural exchanges and tourism.

She also stressed for increasing the existing trade volume among the ECO countries. Speaking on the occasion, Speaker of Mili Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gaforova said the Conference will pave way for integrated and sustainable economics in the region.
