PCDMA demand to extend Bill of Lading Date

Karachi, August 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): PCDMA Chairman Arif Lakhani has expressed deep concern on the instruction of State Bank of Pakistan, instructed that shipment of imported good must be completed till August 10 and he demanded to extend the date.

He further expressed that State Bank of Pakistan has fixed July 20 for Bill of Lading and import till August 10 is not sufficient time because most of the importers does not know that instruction and their Shipment dates are also different, those importers whose dates are after July 20, their containers worth million of Rupees stuck up at Port for clearance. He further said State Bank of Pakistan should take PCDMA on board, so that problem faced by importers must be solved.

Arif Lakhani has requested to Governor State Bank of Pakistan to take back decision of closing of open account because Pakistani importers can avail the borrowing from international supplier under this facility and importers given back the amount to international suppliers after sale raw material to cheaper rate to exporting industry which cause less production cost to exporting industry.

He further said that Government will get benefit in shape of Open Account, in which the payment will be due after many days, in this way there is not any pressure to foreign reserves also, which will also beneficial to Government.
