Peoples Bus Service and EV Taxi Service Cameras in Karachi Linked to Safe City Network

In a bold move to enhance urban security, the Sindh government has today decided to link the internal and external surveillance systems of the Peoples Bus Service and the soon-to-be-launched EV Taxi Service with the Safe City Network. This integration was announced by Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, which is expected to significantly improve traffic management, security monitoring, and public safety in major cities, including Karachi.

The Intelligent Transport System (ITS), a key component of the Peoples Bus and EV Taxi services, will be synchronized with the Safe City project. This initiative is part of a broader effort to modernize the public transport system and ensure safe and efficient urban mobility. This move is expected to provide citizens with an affordable, safe, and environmentally friendly travel option, while also modernizing the region’s transport infrastructure.

During a meeting held in Karachi, attended by Secretary Transport Asad Zaman, Sindh Mass Transit Authority Managing Director Kanwal Nizam Bhutto, and other officials, a delegation of private investors presented proposals regarding the EV Taxi Service. The discussions included the project’s operational framework, establishment of charging stations, and potential investment opportunities. The government is committed to launching the EV Taxi Service in Karachi by December, with plans to expand it to other cities.

The launch of a Pink EV Taxi Service has also been announced to cater to the specific needs of female passengers, providing a safe and comfortable travel experience. The government emphasizes the importance of private sector collaboration in promoting sustainable transport solutions and improving environmental conditions.

The EV Taxi Service will not only play a significant role in improving public transportation but will also contribute to the economic development of the province. By incorporating modern technology and monitoring systems, the Sindh government is setting a new standard for the safety and efficiency of public transport.
