PM Reaffirms Govt’s Resolve to Eradicate Polio Nationwide

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today reiterated the government’s commitment to completely eradicating polio from the country, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts between federal and provincial authorities.

He chaired a meeting in Islamabad, where he commended the timely identification of polio cases and the overall decline in infections. He acknowledged the role of provincial governments and other stakeholders in the campaign’s progress.

Sharif stressed that eliminating polio requires sustained collaboration between federal and provincial administrations. He also recognized the contributions of security forces in ensuring the smooth execution of polio immunization drives.

He instructed authorities to digitize all polio-related data and enforce strict monitoring mechanisms to enhance efficiency.

During the meeting, officials reported that 42.5 million children received anti-polio drops during the February campaign. They also outlined a plan for three polio vaccination drives in the first half of the year, with the second and third rounds scheduled for April and May.
