PMA denies supporting govt stance on Namaz-e-Taraweeh

KARACHI:Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) leadership is very much distressed over the statement of Shahbaz Gill, who said doctors are doing politics and that a press conference was organized on the instructions of Sindh government.

“We categorically reject these blames of Mir Gill. PMA and some very senior doctors addressed a press conference at Karachi Press Club to highlight the worsening situation of Pakistan regarding coronavirus,” the association leadership said in a statement on Friday.

“We very honestly gave our professional opinion and requested the government and ulema to review their decision of holding Namaz-e-Jumma and Namaz-e-Taraweeh in mosques.”

PMA leadership said it requested them to withdraw this decision because it could spread the COVID-19. Being medical professionals, it is our duty to inform the nation by portraying the real picture of the situation. We also requested all the stakeholders and the general public to stay at homes to avoid Coronavirus.”

PMA requested Shahbaz Gill to take back his statement because it had hurt the doctors’ community at a time when they were fighting against coronavirus as frontline soldiers.
