Kumb police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a bandit in injured condition after an encounter on Mehran Highway near Khairpur.

A Kumb police team, acting on a tip-off, confronted a group of dacoits on Mehran Highway near Kumb town in district Khairpur Mirs. The dacoits, allegedly planning a robbery, opened fire at the police upon seeing them. The criminals attempted to flee into nearby fields, but the police chased them them, leading to exchange of gunfire.

During the encounter, one notorious dacoit was arrested in an injured condition. The arrested suspect was identified as Shah Dino, alias Shaho, son of Ali Khan Solangi. Police have recovered a pistol and ammunition from his possession while his accomplices managed to fee under the cover of intense firing.

According to SSP Khairpur, Touheed-ur-Rehman Memon, the arrested criminal has a history of involvement in multiple serious crimes. The SSP stated that Shah Dino’s criminal record in other districts is also being investigated. Further investigation was underway.
