Police Chief Touts Crime Reduction as Traders Push for Enhanced Security Measures

Representatives from the capital’s business community directly confronted the city’s top police official with pressing security challenges, including traffic management and the safety of industrial zones, during a high-level meeting aimed at creating a safer commercial environment.

According to a police report today, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, held the detailed discussion during an important visit to the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), where proposals to enhance cooperation were a central theme.

Addressing the Chamber”s President and office bearers, IGP Rizvi asserted that crime has been significantly curtailed through a series of tactical measures. He credited the use of modern technology, expanded camera surveillance, refined patrolling plans, and the reactivation of trader-police liaison committees for the improvement.

The police chief stated that his department is executing a comprehensive strategy to foster a secure and conducive environment for commercial operations, acknowledging the vital role traders play in the capital”s economic activities. He assured attendees that personnel are making every possible effort to protect commercial areas.

The ICCI representatives presented their own suggestions, outlining specific issues faced by different markets and advocating for more effective modes of communication with law enforcement.

While raising their concerns, the business leaders also appreciated recent police actions and pledged their full cooperation. The IGP welcomed their input, emphasizing that continuous consultation and joint efforts are essential for both enhanced security and economic growth.

The meeting concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the IGP, and both parties affirmed their commitment to strengthening future collaboration through joint initiatives.
