Hundreds of wanted criminals have surrendered as a result of a major security operation in the kacha areas, while law enforcement authorities have vowed to continue the operation until the elimination of all gangs. In the latest development, two more most-wanted dacoits surrendered due to mounting pressure from the extensive crackdown by Punjab Police.
The two individuals who surrendered on Monday were involved in serious criminal cases such as kidnapping for ransom, murder, and dacoity. According to District Police Officer (DPO) Rajanpur, Muhammad Imran, after their surrender, the total number of criminals who have turned themselves in to the law has reached 357.
In the ongoing operation, the hideouts of notorious criminal groups including the Umrani, Sukhani, Lund, and Andhar gangs and criminal elements of Kacha Karachi have been systematically targeted. Authorities are using advanced drone technology to track and destroy the dacoits’ sanctuaries.
In addition to the large number of surrenders, the police campaign has resulted in the dismantling of the criminals’ infrastructure. DPO Imran confirmed that 41 sanctuaries and fortified bunkers have been successfully demolished, disrupting the operational capabilities of the gangs in the region.
Inspector General (IG) of Punjab, Abdul Karim has praised the efforts of the Rajanpur Police for the successful campaign. He affirmed that the operation will continue without interruption and said that the ultimate goal is the “complete elimination” of criminals from the kacha areas.
