people were killed and 37 other suspected criminals were injured as a result of 37 encounters between law enforcement agencies and alleged dacoits across Karachi last week.
According to a press release issued today from the office of the Additional Inspector General, a total of 52 individuals were arrested in connection with these clashes. Authorities also seized 47 illegal firearms of various types and recovered 18 motorcycles from the detained individuals.
Anti-crime operations across the city extended beyond these encounters, resulting in the arrest of more than 1,141 suspects from Karachi’s East, West, and South zones during the same one-week period.
As part of the ongoing crackdown, police also seized a large quantity of narcotics. The recovered illegal substances include 19.91 kilograms of hashish and 1.644 kilograms of ice/crystal and heroin, with an estimated market value of millions of rupees.
In total, the week-long operations resulted in the seizure of more than 136 illegal weapons with ammunition, believed to have been used in robberies and other criminal incidents.
Additionally, law enforcement agencies recovered 36 snatched or stolen motorcycles and two larger vehicles from different parts of the city.
A spokesperson for the Karachi police confirmed that such measures will continue in order to eliminate crime, restore law and order, and ensure public safety.
