Following the recent Gul Plaza tragedy, top business representatives and the Governor of Sindh convened for a second time to strategize on victim rehabilitation and implement measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
A high-level delegation, including Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry leaders Javed Bilwani and Anjum Nisar, along with Gul Plaza President Tanveer Pasha, met with Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori at the Governor’s House on Wednesday.
During the discussions, Mr. Pasha commended the Governor’s swift intervention during the incident, crediting the timely rescue operations and decisive actions with saving numerous lives. He expressed gratitude for the Governor’s advocacy on behalf of the plaza’s victims across all forums.
Both the Governor’s Office and the Karachi Chamber presented various proposals aimed at restoring livelihoods, safeguarding commercial activities, and establishing safety protocols for the future. Mr. Pasha reportedly expressed agreement in principle with the proposed plans.
The gravity of the situation was further underscored by the presence of other key figures, including Member of the National Assembly Arshad Vohra and Member of the Sindh Assembly Taha.
Governor Tessori reiterated his commitment, stating that the victims would not be left alone and that the government would utilize all available resources to ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation process.
