Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari paid tribute to the martyrs on the anniversary of the May 12, 2007 tragedy, stating that the blood shed on the streets of Karachi has not gone in vain. He said that the blood of the martyrs of May 12 has become a symbol of resistance against oppression today.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari stated that the May 12 tragedy will always be remembered as a dark day in the nation’s history. He further said that this day serves as a reminder of the violation of the sanctity of human life and the disrespect of democratic values.
Bilawal Bhutto mentioned that on May 12, the people of Karachi, lawyers, political workers, and representatives of civil society made great sacrifices for the constitution. Dozens of innocent people were martyred and hundreds were injured.
He said that the crime of the martyrs was standing with the constitution, the judiciary, and democracy. He emphasized that Pakistan must prevent the repetition of such tragic events to move forward.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed solidarity with the families of the martyrs of May 12. He said that the party has faced violence and sacrifices, and this day will remain a part of our collective memory.
He stated that we have not forgotten the martyrs of May 12, nor has the nation. Bilawal Bhutto said that our future generations will continue to condemn the perpetrators of this tragic day.
