PPP to observe black day tomorrow

LARKANA: PPP will observe black day across the country tomorrow (5th July) against the overthrow of democratic elected government of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. Rallies and protests will be held at all district headquarters in Sindh against the dictatorial move of Ziaul Haq.

This was stated by PPP Senator Nisar Ahmed Khuhro in a statement issued here on Monday. The party office-bearers and activists have been asked to hoist black flags on their offices and wear black armbands while participating in the protests.

From the time of Shaheed Bhutto till today, democracy and the government of democratic forces have become a thorn in the eyes of non-democratic elements, Khuhro said. He said in the past, dictatorship was imposed by sending the democratic government home in the dark of night.

After the 18th amendment, the way to send the elected governments home was blocked by abolishing the 58th Amendment, Khuhro added. He said that today, undemocratic elements were promoting the politics of false accusations to suppress democratic thinking.

The solution to all the problems in the country and the survival of the country lies in a strong democracy, Khuhro stated. It is necessary to defeat the thinking that gives birth to intolerance, accusations and bigotry, he said. Ever since Article 58 was removed from the Constitution, the 18th Amendment had been a thorn in the side of undemocratic elements, he added. We will expose the conspiracy against the democratic forces under the guise of the false narrative of the non-democratic elements in every forum, Nisar said.
