Protest against delay in Nasirabad Hospital construction, protestors threaten to block Indus Highway

The Sajag Shehri Ittehad has threatened a shutter-down strike and a sit-in on the Indus Highway, demanding the resumption of work on the delayed Nasirabad Hospital, as their protest against the severe lack of health facilities enters its 95th day.

The Sajag Shehri Ittehad held a demonstration in Waryani village on Tuesday, attended by a large number of local residents, social activists, and members of the organization. Participants carried placards and banners and chanted slogans for the restoration of medical facilities in the region.

Addressing the rally, leaders of the alliance, including President Comrade Muhammad Rafi Laghari and General Secretary Comrade Asif Kathia, condemned the inaction of the authorities. They termed the 15-year delay in the construction of Nasirabad Taluka Hospital “a gross injustice and a mockery of public health,” stressing that lakhs of people in the taluka are forced to wander for medical assistance.

The speakers further detailed the dire situation at the Nasirabad Rural Health Center, stating that there is a severe shortage of doctors, medicines, and basic treatment facilities. This forces poor patients to either seek expensive treatment at private clinics or go without any treatment at all. The leaders alleged that instead of taking practical steps, the health department officials are only making hollow announcements.

The Sajag Shehri Ittehad has issued a clear ultimatum, demanding that the construction of the taluka hospital be resumed without delay and the Rural Health Center be provided with adequate staff and equipment. The group warned that in case of failure to meet these demands, they will be forced to escalate their protest to a complete shutter-down and a blockade of the main highway.
