The Sindh government is poised to establish a new Registration Authority with the power to issue investment licenses within a month, part of a sweeping legislative effort to make the province self-sufficient in poultry production.
According to official information today, the plan was unveiled during a significant joint meeting led by Sindh Minister for Livestock and Fisheries Muhammad Ali Malkani and Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Public Health Saleem Baloch. The officials stated that the government intends to introduce legislation soon to attract investors and bolster the industry.
To streamline the investment process, the provincial government announced the formation of a dedicated Registration Authority. This body will be responsible for issuing licenses to entrepreneurs wanting to invest in all areas of the poultry industry across Sindh. Minister Malkani proposed a swift, one-month turnaround for the issuance of these licenses.
Mr. Malkani confirmed that the “Poultry Production Act 2025” has already been drafted following extensive consultations and suggestions from key stakeholders. The proposed law will undergo a final review by the Law Department before being presented for approval, with the goal of opening up investment opportunities as quickly as possible.
The high-level meeting included prominent government officials and industry leaders, such as Secretary Livestock and Fisheries Kazim Hussain Jatoi, DG Dr. Nazir Kalhoro, and DG Poultry Dr. Munawar Rana. Representatives from the poultry production sector, including Poultry Association Chairman Chaudhry M. Ashhad and Senior Vice Chairman Ghulam Khaliq, were also in attendance to provide their input.
