PTCL partners with GSMA on gateway deal to strengthen digital security, combat fraud

PTCL Group has entered into a significant partnership with the GSMA to enhance digital security and combat fraud, the organization officially stated on Wednesday. The long-term Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed during GITEX GLOBAL 2025, aims to securely connect businesses to mobile networks, facilitating a new wave of accelerated digital innovation across Pakistan.

This collaboration is under the GSMA Open Gateway initiative, a global program designed to provide businesses with simple and secure access to mobile network capabilities through Application Programmable Interfaces (APIs). This framework aims to accelerate the adoption of new digital services for both businesses and consumers.

By joining this global initiative, PTCL Group has positioned itself among international leaders working to build robust digital ecosystems. Standardized APIs will allow businesses to integrate mobile network functionalities into their platforms more easily, ensuring secure and interconnected services for their customers.

Jawad Abbassi, Head of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at GSMA, welcomed the Pakistani telecom company to the initiative. He commented, “Their participation will help accelerate the digital ecosystem in Pakistan and across the region.” He added, “This collaboration is crucial for fully leveraging the capabilities of 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced applications.”
