PTI Sindh said Wednesday that in response to the severe heatwave in Karachi, PTI Sindh has established cold water camps in various parts of the city.

According to Mediacell Haleem Adil Sheikh’s statement, the additional general secretary of PTI Sindh, Rizwan Niazi, set up a camp at Numaish Chowrangi, which the police attempted to dismantle before PTI leaders arrived. PTI Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, Karachi President Raja Azhar, and other party leaders were present at the camp to distribute cold water bottles and wet towels to the citizens. The police, however, arrived in large numbers and attempted to close down the camp, even removing PTI flags and banners.

Speaking to the media, Haleem Adil Sheikh stated that 714 people had died in Karachi due to the heatwave in the past week. He criticized the prolonged power outages, attributing them to K-Electric, and stated that the severe heat and lack of electricity had made life unbearable for the citizens. Sheikh emphasized that despite the billion-rupee budget of the Sindh government and KMC, no relief camps had been established.

The PTI Sindh chief further explained that PTI had set up those camps across different areas of Karachi to provide cold water and other amenities to the citizens. He remarked that it was the administration’s responsibility to set up those camps. Sheikh accused the government of negligence and stated that Karachi’s leadership had been handed over to those who had stolen the mandate.

He added that K-Electric claimed a outstanding bill against the Sindh government, which was causing the load-shedding. He questioned why the Sindh government had not paid the bill, despite Karachi was contributing 90% of the taxes to Sindh.

Rizwan Niazi, additional general secretary of PTI Sindh, speaking to the media, highlighted the public’s distress due to the severe heat and prolonged power outages, making it difficult for citizens to stay in their homes. He urged the Sindh government to set up similar relief camps across the province and mentioned that PTI plans to establish more camps throughout Karachi.

Niazi questioned why the Sindh government could not establish shelter homes for addicts, providing them with treatment and employment opportunities. He also stated that PTI would take legal action regarding the deaths caused by the heatwave.

Karachi PTI President Raja Azhar stated that PTI was setting up camps all over Karachi to provide maximum relief to the public. He criticized the Sindh government for leaving Karachi in a state of neglect and warned that they would protest if the unannounced load-shedding does not end.
