PTI Warns of Protest Against Gas Loadshedding in Karachi

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Sindh Vice President Rizwan Niazi has strongly criticized severe gas loadshedding in Karachi during the holy month of Ramazan, stating that many residents are unable to cook food even at sehri and iftar times due to the prolonged disruption of gas supply.

In a statement issued on Friday, he remarked that the situation had created serious hardships for citizens, arguing that government incompetence had deprived people of basic necessities during a sacred month when households rely heavily on uninterrupted utilities.

He pointed out that gas shortages were not the only concern, noting that unannounced electricity outages and an acute shortage of water had further aggravated the problems faced by Karachi’s residents. According to him, fasting citizens were enduring unbearable conditions amid intense heat, power cuts and the absence of adequate water supply.

Niazi maintained that responsible institutions had failed to respond effectively to the growing difficulties faced by the public, leaving citizens to cope with worsening circumstances on their own.

The PTI leader also criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government in Sindh, noting that the party led by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had been in power in the province for the past 18 years. Despite this long tenure, he argued, residents of a mega city like Karachi continued to suffer due to poor governance and administrative mismanagement.

He stressed that the inability to provide relief to citizens even during Ramazan raised serious questions about the performance of the provincial government and the concerned authorities.

Highlighting development issues, Niazi observed that several infrastructure and development projects in Karachi should have been completed long ago. However, continuous delays, he added, were causing billions of rupees of public funds to be wasted while many projects remained unfinished.

He further alleged that public funds were being misused in the name of development, contending that the prevailing governance failures had pushed Karachi towards deterioration.

Niazi called on the relevant authorities to ensure uninterrupted gas supply, end electricity loadshedding and guarantee fair distribution of water across the city.

He warned that if the problems were not addressed immediately, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf would organize strong protests alongside the public and raise the voice of Karachi’s citizens at every available forum.
