Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has been invited on a landmark official visit to China by the Communist Party of China (CPC). The eight-day visit, scheduled from December 8 to 15, marks her as the first female Chief Minister from Pakistan to undertake such an engagement.

According to CM office statement today, the invitation was formally extended by the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, emphasizing the strengthening of ties between the ruling parties of both nations-Pakistan Muslim League (N) and the CPC. CM Maryam will lead a high-level delegation and visit major cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangdong.

During the visit, discussions will focus on key areas of collaboration, such as information technology, healthcare, industrial development, smog management, and climate change. The delegation will also explore avenues to boost trade and private sector partnerships between Punjab and Chinese enterprises.

In addition to meeting prominent Chinese leaders and officials, CM Maryam will be briefed on China’s development model and governance system. The visit aims to foster bilateral cooperation and open a new chapter in Pakistan-China relations.

This invitation underscores the mutual desire for deeper diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the two nations, with Punjab positioned as a key partner in these efforts.
