Punjab committed to eradicate dengue: DC

JHANG:Deputy Commissioner Jhang Fayaz Ahmed said on Tuesday that the Punjab government was committed to eradicate dengue.

Addressing a meeting of the District Emergency and Response Committee, Ahmed said that a collective effort was the need of the time as climate change and rains could spread dengue vastly.

“Dengue surveillance should be made effective,” he said. The meeting was also attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Sarwar Gujjar, Assistant Commissioner Qasim Gul, SM Dr Altaf Hussain, Dr Tahir Munir and officers of other concerned departments.

The DC said wherever dengue larvae were found, surveillance should be carried out regularly. All the activities against dengue should be visible on the field.

On this occasion Dr Tahir Munir said that dengue larvae were found in two graveyards in the district, which were immediately destroyed. “All arrangements have been made in district hospitals against dengue, he added.
