Punjab Faces Flood Risk as Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej Rise Within 48 Hours

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority Punjab today warned that water levels in the Chenab, Ravi, and Sutlej rivers are rising, with hill torrents and streams also in flood, signaling a high flood risk over the next 48 hours.

Director General Irfan Ali Kathia cautioned that flows across the three waterways continue to swell, raising the possibility of substantial inundation within the next forty-eight hours.

He also flagged a risk of flash flooding in hill torrents around Dera Ghazi Khan. Relief Commissioner Punjab Nabeel Javed said the government has established flood relief camps in districts equipped with essential facilities.
