The Punjab Education Department today issued province-wide directives requiring schools to implement pre-monsoon safety measures, as authorities move to reduce risks associated with the upcoming rainy season.
Under the instructions, school administrations have been ordered to strictly enforce safety protocols during the monsoon period, with officials warning that negligence or failure to comply could result in disciplinary action.
Education authorities said head teachers would conduct inspections of school roofs and drainage systems, while buildings deemed structurally weak or hazardous would undergo detailed assessments. Emergency preparedness plans and other precautionary arrangements have also been made mandatory.
The department further directed school heads and Class-IV employees to remain present during school hours to ensure effective monitoring and prompt response to any weather-related emergencies.
The measures form part of the provincial government’s broader efforts to enhance student safety and minimise potential damage to educational institutions during the monsoon season.
