Punjab Police and Motorway Police Sign Agreement for Joint Crackdown Against Crime and Terrorism on Highways

In a significant move to counter terrorism, smuggling, and the movement of stolen vehicles, the Punjab Police and the National Highways and Motorway Police have formally activated joint security operations and real-time intelligence alerts after signing a new agreement.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishes a formal framework for enhanced cooperation aimed at protecting the lives and property of travelers on the motorway network. The agreement was signed today by Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar and Additional Inspector General of Motorway Police Saad Akhtar Bharwana.

As an immediate result of the agreement, joint teams have started joint checking of public service vehicles at specific points. This process includes comprehensive verification and data collection of drivers, conductors, and other vehicle staff to create a verifiable record.

This security measure, which aligns with the directive of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for safe highways, utilizes modern technology and real-time coordination between the two forces to make security more effective.

The signing ceremony was also attended by senior officials, including DIG R and D Fawad-ud-Din Qureshi, DIG Central Zone Imran Shahid, and AIG Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi, which indicates a high-level commitment to the partnership between the forces.
