The district administration of Quetta on Wednesday launched a comprehensive crackdown against price control violations, the proliferation of plastic bags, illegal encroachments, and unauthorized mini petrol pumps to ensure compliance with regulations and protect environmental and consumer standards.
As part of this ongoing campaign, authorities have inspected 77 shops and markets. These actions resulted in the arrest of nine individuals, seven of whom were summarily sentenced and jailed. Furthermore, enforcement teams sealed two mini petrol pumps and two shops to curb illegal activities.
In a significant measure against environmental hazards, 25 kilograms of plastic bags were confiscated during the raids. Additionally, the administration imposed fines amounting to Rs 42,000, confirming its commitment to the strict enforcement of regulations.
The district administration has stressed that such operations will be carried out daily. Their aim is to ensure fair pricing, safeguard public convenience, and promote environmentally friendly initiatives. With a stern stance against illegal activities, the administration has pledged a zero-tolerance approach to any violation of the law, ensuring a safe and orderly environment for the residents of Quetta.
