QADIRABAD: Rain-induced floods inundated many settlements in the areas of Rajanpur, Rojhan and Taunsa on Friday, affecting social and business life.

The affected are moving to safe places on their own as authorities could not reach to protect them from the danger of the flash flood, which have also affected 27,860 acres of land. The Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi on Friday instructed authorities to speed up relief activities for the people affected by flood in River Chenab.

Elahi while directing to accelerate relief activities in Rajanpur, Rojhan and Taunsa said that providing relief to the affected people should be ensured on priority. “We will not leave victims alone in such difficult hours,” said the CM. The people of region have appealed to the new Punjab government to declare their region a calamity-hit area and provide relief and rescue aid for the rehabilitation of the affectees forthwith.
