The Meteorological Department’s Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) Quetta on Monday issued a weather advisory, stating that southwesterly moist currents are penetrating most parts of Balochistan, while the western districts remain under the influence of dry continental air due to a ridge over Afghanistan.
According to the department, mainly hot and dry weather is expected to prevail in most parts of the province during the next 24 hours, while southern districts are likely to experience very hot and humid conditions.
However, partly cloudy weather is expected in the northeastern districts, with rain-wind and thunderstorms likely to occur at isolated locations in Barkhan, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Zhob, Ziarat, Harnai, Nasirabad and Kohlu, as well as their surrounding areas, during the next 24 hours.
The department further forecast that similar weather conditions would persist over the next 48 hours. Most parts of the province are expected to remain hot and dry, while southern areas may continue to experience very hot and humid weather.
Partly cloudy conditions are likely to prevail in northeastern districts, with rain-wind and thunderstorms expected at isolated places in Nasirabad, Kohlu, Barkhan, Musakhel, Khuzdar, Kech, Awaran, Ziarat and Harnai, including adjoining areas, during the next 48 hours.
During the last 24 hours, no rainfall was recorded anywhere in the province. The highest maximum temperature was recorded in Usta Muhammad at 49.0°C, followed by Nokkundi at 48.0°C and Dalbandin at 47.0°C. Sibbi and Turbat each recorded 46.0°C, while Panjgur registered 43.5°C.
Other recorded maximum temperatures included Khuzdar 41.0°C, Lasbella 40.0°C, Uthal 39.5°C, Jiwani 38.0°C, Quetta 38.0°C, Samungli 38.0°C, Quetta RMC 38.0°C, Sariab 37.0°C, and Barkhan, Gwadar, Ormara, Pasni and Zhob at 35.0°C each. Kalat recorded a maximum temperature of 34.0°C during the reporting period.
