Raza Shah quits PTI as one more MPA arrested

LAHORE:PTI leaders continued to bid adieu to the party in the aftermath of incidents of violence witnessed on May 9 last, following the arrest of former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

Makhdoom Ali Raza Shah, from Dera Ismael Khan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), is the latest to join the list of deserters.

Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, he said he parted his ways with the PTI in the national interest. “I condemn the acts of vandalism and arson that took place in a number of cities on May 9,” he said, alleging that Imran’s narrative about the US cypher was ‘false’. “I salute martyrs of the Pakistan Army,” Shah said.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested former PTI MPA from Layyah Rafaqat Gillani from in Multan. Gillani was wanted in connection with May 9 violence wherein he blocked Multan-Mianwali road, resorted to firing and set vehicles on fire.

A case under terrorism charges was registered against him at Chowk Azam Police Station after which he had been hiding at the residence of a close relative in Multan. Gillani was elected MPA from PP-283 from Layyah.
