The initiative has been declared a top priority to promote sports activities for the youth and provide quality sports facilities. Officials said the construction aims to provide local youth with opportunities for constructive activities, which are considered crucial to keep them away from drugs and crime.
The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 186.994 million. A major portion, Rs 82.54 million, has been allocated for civil and architectural works, while another Rs 26.73 million is set aside for landscaping.
The financial plan also includes Rs 45.98 million for electrical works, Rs 12.29 million for engineering facilities, and Rs 2.18 million for underground water supply, in addition to funds for public health and plumbing works.
Spread over an area of 14,730 square yards, the sports ground will have separate facilities for both football and cricket. The design includes an eight-foot-wide jogging track, a new pavilion, and a large designated parking area for cars and motorcycles.
The reconstruction of the existing boundary wall and main gate is also included in the project, along with a tree plantation campaign to improve the complex’s environment.
Adjacent to the sports complex, a family park will be established on a 2,705 square yard plot. This recreational space will have its own jogging track, green areas, a children’s play area, and a gazebo.
The installation of benches for seating, streetlights, and dedicated park lights are also part of the family park’s development plan to ensure usability and safety.
Upon completion, the project is expected to provide residents with high-quality sports and family recreational facilities. The administration emphasized that active sports grounds help build a healthy society and the improvement of such infrastructure across the city is an ongoing process.
