Sachal Sarmast’s Urs to begin on 14th Ramadan, preparations underway

The 205th annual Urs Mubarak of the Haft Zaban poet Hazrat Sachal Sarmast (RA) will begin on the 14th of Ramadan at the Dargah Hazrat Sachal Sarmast, which will be inaugurated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

In this regard, an important meeting was held today at the Sachal Sarmast Hall of the DC office under the chairmanship of Chairman Sachal Yadgar Committee, Deputy Commissioner Altaf Ahmed Chachar, to finalize the arrangements.

Details of the comprehensive security plan were provided by the SSP’s representative, DIB Incharge Ali Gul Mallah, who assured that all necessary measures would be taken to protect the participants during the Urs.

The meeting, held at Sachal Sarmast Hall, was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Khairpur and Chairman Sachal Yadgar Committee, Altaf Ahmed Chachar. During the meeting, various officials and committee members reviewed the schedule of the three-day event, which will be inaugurated on the 14th of Ramadan by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah.

In his address, Deputy Commissioner Chachar emphasized that the administrative departments have been directed to ensure high standards of cleanliness, provision of clean drinking water, and installation of CCTV cameras at the venue.

Furthermore, he confirmed that emergency services, including ambulances and the dispensary located near the shrine, will be fully functional to handle any emergencies during the large gathering.

Commemorative activities will include various cultural and literary programs, such as a chador poshi ceremony, mehfil-e-samaa, an awards ceremony, a mushaira, sughar kacheri, and traditional malakhra. An exhibition and a literary conference are also significant parts of the schedule.

During the meeting, members of the Sachal Yadgar Committee, including Secretary Mukhtiar Malik, Nazar Muhammad Gaho, and Professor Altaf Asim, presented several important suggestions. A formal demand was made to elevate the literary conference to an international event to enhance the global significance of the Urs.

Additionally, the committee strongly advocated for an increase in remuneration for all participating guests, including sughars, malh pehlwans, artists, and poets, for better recognition of their services at the cultural festival.
