The Pakistani government will expedite the issuance of passports and other necessary documents to its citizens in Spain, with the aim of completing the process within a week to facilitate their participation in the upcoming Spanish scheme to regularize the status of undocumented persons.
The move, which will benefit about 15,000 Pakistanis, was discussed at a high-level meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
During the session in the capital, progress regarding the acquisition of Spanish resident cards for Pakistani nationals was reviewed.
Mr Naqvi affirmed that the prompt provision of passports to overseas Pakistanis is a principal objective for the administration.
He also issued a strict directive that passports must not be granted to any criminal or person wanted by law enforcement, ensuring robust security checks remain in place.
The Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, expressed his gratitude to the Ministry of Interior for its comprehensive support for the Pakistani community residing in Spain.
