Scholarship – KU, Haier Pakistan Launch Rs5.9 Million Scholarship Program

The University of Karachi and Haier Pakistan Pvt Ltd has signed a strategic partnership through the signing of a memorandum of understanding aimed at supporting academic excellence through comprehensive scholarship programs.

The MoU was signed by KU’s Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and Director Marketing of Haier Pakistan Pvt. Ltd. Hamayoun Bashir and Creative Marketing Director, Suman Munir at the VC Secretariat.

This collaboration was made possible in particular due to the innovative work being done by students through MediaVerse, the student-led platform of the Department of Mass Communication. The initiative reflects the department’s commitment to bridging theoretical knowledge with practical industry applications, a quality that resonated strongly with Haier’s vision of supporting future leaders.

Under this agreement, students from the Departments of Mass Communication, Commerce, Public Administration, and the Karachi University Business School will receive scholarships valued at over Rs 5.9 million, reflecting Haier Pakistan’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and educational advancement.

The scholarship initiative encompasses need-based funding designed to support deserving students in pursuing their academic goals. Additionally, high-achieving students will be eligible for the prestigious Haier Top Performers Cash Award, with Rs 520,000 allocated for ten exceptional students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.

The scholarship program is expected to benefit students immediately, with applications and selection processes to be announced through official university channels in the coming weeks. The University of Karachi and the Department of Mass Communication would also like to extend their gratitude to IO Digital and its CEO, Mr. Junaid, for facilitating this partnership. Their continued support, recognition of the university’s initiatives, and dedicated efforts have played an essential role in making this collaboration possible.
