The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Media and Think Tank Summit commenced Friday in Zhengzhou, China, emphasizing the critical role of media and intellectuals in strengthening international relations and cross-cultural understanding among member states.
The gathering aims to promote the “Shanghai Spirit,” which centers on mutual trust, shared advantages, equality, respect for diverse cultures, and collaborative progress. The summit has drawn over 400 participants, including representatives from media organizations, international bodies, and SCO member states and dialogue partners. Pakistan”s delegation includes Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Director General Saeed Ahmed Shaikh.
Organized by the State Council Information Office of China, Xinhua News Agency, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the Henan provincial government, the summit serves as a precursor to the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of States of SCO, scheduled for August 31, 2025, in China.
The summit is expected to produce the “Zhengzhou Consensus,” a key document outlining strategies to uphold the “Shanghai Spirit” for global peace and prosperity.
