Balochistan today braces for a scorching heatwave with predictions of hot to very hot and humid weather across most of the province.
However, the Meteorological Department Quetta Regional Center forecasts potential respite with rain, wind, and thunderstorms expected in isolated areas, including Barkhan, Musakhel, Sherani, Kohlu, Zhob, Ziarat, Harnai, Loralai, Khuzdar, Kalat, Lasbella, Hub, Quetta, Bolan, Mastung, Dera Bugti, and Ormara, over the next 24 hours. Isolated heavy downpours are also anticipated in central and northeastern mountain torrents.
Over the next 48 hours, similar weather patterns are likely to persist, with scorching conditions and isolated rain and thunderstorms expected in Barkhan, Musakhel, Sherani, Kohlu, Zhob, Ziarat, and surrounding areas.
In the past 24 hours, several districts experienced rainfall, with Zhob recording the highest precipitation at 24.0mm, followed by Ziarat (5.0mm), Khuzdar (1.4mm), and Barkhan (1.0mm). Temperatures varied significantly across the region, with Nokkundi reaching a high of 44.5°C and a low of 24.5°C. Other notable high temperatures included Dalbandin (43.5°C), Panjgur (42.5°C), and Sibbi (41.5°C). Quetta city experienced a high of 37.0°C. Coastal areas like Gwadar and Ormara experienced relatively moderate temperatures, hovering around the low 30s.
