Search operation continues near Chohar Jamali for the second day, one police officer martyred, another injured

After the tragic martyrdom of a police officer and the injury of another officer as a result of a police encounter near Chohar Jamali today, a large-scale operation to search for the suspects is ongoing, which has now entered its second day.

The incident occurred when law enforcement agencies were trying to arrest individuals wanted in several serious cases. However, the suspects opened fire on the police, resulting in the death of Officer Wajid Soomro and the injury of Constable Ghulam Mustafa Chawro. The suspects later escaped into nearby village houses to evade capture.

The FIR of this incident has been registered at Jatri Police Station under the supervision of SHO Abdul Latif Rajpar. The report includes the names of Hassan Otho, Sabz Ali alias Dodo Otho, Javed Otho, Zubair Otho, and several unidentified accomplices. They are charged with the officer’s murder, obstructing official duties, and violating the Anti-Terrorism Act.

Police contingents from Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, and Tando Muhammad Khan are involved in the search for the suspects. Authorities have sealed all entry points to the area and are using advanced equipment such as drone cameras to aid the search.

During the search, the police reported that some village women created obstacles, inadvertently aiding the suspects to escape. Despite this obstruction, the search process continues unhindered, and the police are determined to bring the responsible individuals to justice.
