Sehrai concerned over loss of life, property along LoC

Srinagar, March 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai has expressed concern over the loss of life and property along the Line of Control (LoC) due to heightened border skirmishes between India and Pakistan.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “Life has turned into a nightmare for border residents, which needs to be protected and respected. The hostile atmosphere that has been created on the borders, presumably more often than not for the sheer political purposes, is taking a heavy toll on the civilian populations living on both sides of the borders. This is a human problem that needs a humane approach.”

He appealed the leadership of both the countries to exhibit political maturity at this point of time. “Major cause of confrontation between India and Pakistan is the Kashmir dispute which is political in nature, cannot be settled through skirmishes on the borders. Only serious negotiations and a meaningful dialogue is the way forward which holds the key. We have repeatedly said that Kashmir is a political and humanitarian issue and there is no military solution to it,” he added.

He said every human life is precious, adding who would understand this pain more than Kashmiris who have only seen funerals and graves since three decades. He expressed heartfelt condolences with the families who lost their dear ones and property during the border skirmishes and prayed for the innocent souls. Meanwhile, Ashraf Sehrai grieved over the loss of precious lives and those who injured in Udhampur road accident and expressed grief and sympathy with the bereaved families.
