Sehrai condemns slapping of PSA on Mushtaq Veeri

Srinagar, March 16, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) on Jamiat-e-Ahle Hadith vice president Maulana Mushtaq Ahmed Veeri, and shifting him to a Jammu jail.

Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar said such undemocratic act could not weaken the sentiment of Kashmiri people for right to self-determination. “Arresting and slapping PSA on a prominent scholar is an attack on religious sentiments of the people”, he added and demanded his immediate release.

He said cases against dozens of youth, leaders and activists filed under infamous law, PSA, and shifted to far-flung jails is a travesty of justice. He also condemned the arrest and slapping of PSA on Mohammad Shabaan Dar and Aquib Gulzar and detention of Advocate Mir Assad Ullah of Jamaat-e-Islami. He said Jamaat is a socio-religious organisation and arresting its leadership and workers and imposing of ban on it is unjustified.
