Seizing of Shabbir Shah’s property condemned

Islamabad, October 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): Information Secretary of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter, Sheikh Abdul Mateen has strongly condemned the seizing of property of illegally detained senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmed Shah.

India’s infamous Enforcement Directorate has recently issued a notice to the wife and two daughters of Shabbir Shah, asking them to vacate their residential house at Rawalpora in Srinagar and hand over its possession to it within 10 days. He said, such cheap tactics depict the mindset of Indian rulers who are continuously using its probe agencies to terrorize and silence pro-freedom people like Shabbir Ahmad Shah. He termed the move frustration of the Indian government, which sent notices to even the daughters of the illegally detained leaders like Shabbir Shah.

He said, people like Shabbir Shah are being targeted only because they are at the forefront of the Kashmiris’ struggle and demanding a solution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the UN resolutions and aspirations of the Kashmiri people. He said, India by adopting such mean tactics will not be able to achieve anything except that this kind of intimidating approach will further alienate the Kashmiris and make them try harder to accomplish their task of freeing their motherland from Indian yoke.

He said that India was openly violating the Geneva Convention on prisoners’ rights by subjecting the Kashmiri detainees to physical and mental torture and were even denied basic facilities. He appealed to the international rights to play their effective role in getting these detainees freed as their detentions are illegal. He said that India’s brutal tactics would not succeed to make Kashmiris abandon their struggle for securing their right to self-determination.
