Seminar on post Aug 2019 scenario and role of Kashmiri diaspora held in Muzaffarabad

Muzaffarabad, July 25, 2023 (PPI-OT): Speakers at a seminar called for highlighting at all international forums like United Nations, European Union and Organisation of Islamic Cooperation the rising human rights violations being perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These views were expressed by the speakers at an event on “IIOJK after August 5, 2019 and role of diaspora and AJK government” in Muzaffarabad, the other day. They said Indian government must be pressurized to stop excessive use of force to crush the indigenous political movement in the occupied territory. The seminar was organised by Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement in connection with “Accession to Pakistan Week” that started on July 19.

President Tehreek-e-Kashmir UK Raja Fahim Kayani was chief guest on the occasion. He said that people in UK and other European countries are ready to contribute to the Kashmir cause but urged the AJK government to enhance its role in promotion of the Kashmir dispute, globally.

“Overseas Kashmiris and Pakistanis are committed to the Kashmir freedom struggle. People in Spain, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Scotland and even in Ireland came on the streets after August 5, 2019 when India abrogated special status of Kashmir and merged it into the Indian Union. Following the August 5 , 2019, overseas Kashmiris conducted marches and staged protest demonstrations in different European cities against India. Kayani said that AJK government must earmark a special fund for the promotion of Kashmiri’s freedom struggle at international level.

Former Chief Justice of AJK Supreme Court Justice Manzoor Gilani said that only Pakistan’s economic stability will ensure the permanent settlement of the Kashmir dispute. Jamaat-e-Islami AJK leader Sheikh Aqeelur Rehman said that overseas Kashmiris are doing good job.

Chairman Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement Altaf Ahmad Butt also urged the AJK government to allocate resources for the Kashmir cause. Renowned historian and writer Allama Jawad Jaffery said that world scenario has been changed and now it is our duty how to highlight this noble cause. The others who spoke on the occasion were Acting Chairman Central Bar Association AJK Naseer Awan, Nisar Ahmad Khan. Dr Abdul Majeed Dar, Faizan Mughal, Shaukat Javid Mir, Shafiq Bhat, Saeed Sidiqi and Uzair Ahmad Ghazali.
