SFA recovers 80kg chemical-mixed milk in Larkana; Shopkeepers fined

LARKANA:A team of Sindh Food Authority (SFA), led by its assistant director Ashique Ali Memon, conducted raids at various milk shops, bakeries and warehouses in Fish Market at Yar Muhammad Colony here on Monday and discarded over 80kg substandard, unhealthy and unhygienic milk wherein chemicals were found.

The team also imposed and recovered a fine of Rs 65,000 from the defaulters. The SFA officials said that shopkeepers were not following SOPs for which they had been warned to observe SFA laws strictly or their shops would be sealed off so that food items could be kept and sold safely to the citizens or else they would continue to face wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, residents of other towns have also demanded frequent raids of the SFA teams in their areas so that neat and clean food items could be procured by them. The citizens said that SFA teams only conducted raids once in a month whereas massive raids would quickly improve the existing very bad situation. Chemical milk is also being openly sold in streets of other towns which need to be curbed, they demanded.
