SHIKARPUR: Shikarpur police claimed to have killed two dacoits and injured one other in two separate encounters in the wee hours of Sunday.
According to SSP office Shikarpur information, a gang of bandits was trying to loot passengers on Dakhan link road withn the jurisdiction of Madeji police station when area police rushed to the scene on information.
Seeing police, the bandits opened fire on them. The police also retaliated the fire, killing two bandits identified as Rafique alias Rafoo Jeffery of Sukkur district and Ali Jan Sabzoi of Garhi Tegho.
Their bodies were shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities. The killed dacoits belonged to a notorious gang of Nisar Sabzoi and Arsalan Sabzoi, SSP Shikarpur said.
Separately, another encounter took place between three bandits and a police team on the Madd Khosa road within the limits of Jahan Khan police picket.
As a result, a bandit identified as Aijaz Brohi received injuries while his accomplices managed to escape under the cover of darkness.
The police have started the search for the fleeing bandits.
