Significant reduction in official tomato prices in Karachi, strict implementation of new prices ordered

To provide potential relief to consumers, the city administration today announced a significant reduction in the official prices of tomatoes, upon which the Karachi Commissioner has issued immediate directives for the strict implementation of the new prices across the city.

The details of this decision were outlined in a report presented to Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi by Assistant Commissioners Gulzar Hijri and Irfan Nizamani. According to the report, the official price of first-grade tomatoes has been reduced from yesterday’s Rs. 207 to Rs. 195 per kilogram.

To ensure the benefit reaches the public, the administration has set the retail price of high-quality tomatoes at Rs. 238 per kilogram.

The price reduction for second-grade tomatoes is even more significant. The price for this category has decreased from the previous Rs. 141 to Rs. 113 per kilogram. The official retail price for second-grade tomatoes has been set at Rs. 138 per kilogram.

In response to the report, Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi has directed all Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict implementation of the new price list.
