Sindh CM orders restoration of 150yearold tree at QasreNaz

A 150yearold banyan tree at the official residence QasreNaz in Karachi, which was uprooted by stormy monsoon winds, has been successfully restored. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who had ordered its restoration, termed the effort an important step towards environmental protection.

The Chief Minister termed the tree a link between generations. He encouraged the youth to appreciate ancient trees and actively participate in their protection. This banyan tree, located at QasreNaz, fell during the recent torrential rains.

A twoday operation was required to replant this ancient tree. It is now expected to flourish again. The Sindh Forest Department revealed that water scarcity, fungus, and termites had weakened the tree’s roots. This diagnosis was confirmed in the report submitted to the Chief Minister.
