Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori today declared that a ‘Charter of Economy’ has become indispensable for Pakistan”s economic survival and stability, announcing he will soon invite all stakeholders to the Governor House to sign a joint economic charter.
The governor made the remarks while speaking to the media following a meeting with Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development Secretary General Yousef Hassan Khalawi and former FPCCI Vice President Khalid Tawab at the Governor House. He affirmed that the Prime Minister of Pakistan and the Field Marshal are making tireless efforts to strengthen the country’s economy.
Mr Tessori termed the presence of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Karachi a positive development, noting that all Islamic countries, including Saudi Arabia, desire Pakistan’s economic prosperity. He mentioned that Saudi Arabia, China, Trkiye, Oman, and Qatar are fully prepared to support the nation.
He further clarified that the Governor House will continue to act as a bridge between European consuls general and the business community to facilitate economic cooperation.
Highlighting specific opportunities, the governor asserted that Pakistan should benefit from the tariffs imposed on India and Bangladesh. He stressed the necessity of collaborating with the Federal Board of Revenue and the State Bank of Pakistan to reform the tax system. He also urged a strategic shift towards non-textile sectors and exploring new markets in Central Asia.
Reiterating his commitment, Governor Tessori stated that his slogan is to make Pakistan economically and educationally victorious. He detailed an initiative at the Governor House providing IT courses to 50,000 children to make them self-reliant, adding that a terrorism-free Pakistan, access to education, and employment opportunities are his foremost priorities.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Pakistan Army, he said the armed forces defeated a much larger enemy, and the nation’s objective must now be to achieve success on the economic front.
In his concluding remarks, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the recent Gul Plaza incident in the city and prayed that such tragic events do not recur.
