The Managing Director of the Sindh Small Industries Corporation (SSIC), Mushtaq Ahmed Shaikh, today emphasised the critical need for modernising traditional crafts and strengthening market linkages to ensure the sustainability of the province”s small-scale enterprises.
Mr. Shaikh delivered his remarks at a symposium on the “Public Sector and SME” during the “Made in Pakistan MSME. Cluster Showcase Expo 2026,” a three-day event organised by SMEDA in Lahore which concluded today.
The SSIC actively participated in the exhibition, showcasing Sindh”s artisanal craftwork and agro-based potential to an audience of investors and visitors. The corporation’s stall featured a variety of handicrafts and value-added agricultural products.
Among the items on display were Dates, Blue pottery, and Ajrak-related textiles, which drew considerable interest for their representation of the region”s unique output.
During his address, the Managing Director also shared details of initiatives and programmes the Sindh Government has taken to support SME growth and assist women entrepreneurs in the province.
He noted that such platforms are vital for integrating Sindh”s economy into the national value chain, as well as for fostering cluster development, improving export readiness, and creating local employment.
