Sindh records 4,318 dengue cases in 2020; three die

KARACHI:As many 4,318 dengue viral fever cases have been recorded throughout Sindh in 2020 out of which 4,080 were registered in Karachi alone, while three people have died of this mosquito-borne disease.

The statistics issued by Vector Borne Diseases Department of Directorate General Health Services, Sindh, shows that at least 4,318 dengue fever cases were detected all over the province from 1st January to 31 December 2020 out of which 4,080 were recorded in Karachi division, 111 in Hyderabad division, 55 in Mirpurkhas division, 34 in Larkana division, 27 in Sukkur division and 11 in Shaheed Benazirabad division.

In Karachi, out of total 4,080, 1424 dengue cases surfaced in district East in 2020, 853 in district South,792 in district Central, 329 in district Korangi, 220 in district West, 264 unspecified/unresponsed areas, and 198 in district Malir.

The three deaths were also recorded in Karachi due to dengue fever last year. In 2019, a total of 16,897 dengue cases were detected in Sindh province out of which 15,684 happened in Karachi and 1213 in other districts.
