Lahore: The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA) and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) have announced a collaborative effort to enhance national exports by supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The two organizations have agreed to implement a "Cooperation Framework Agreement" designed to provide practical assistance to MSMEs, enabling them to scale up and become export-ready.

According to Small and Medium Enterprise Development Authority, the decision was reached during a meeting led by CEO SMEDA Nadia Jahangir Seth and Chief Executive TDAP Faiz Ahmad. The leaders of SMEDA and TDAP decided to review their existing memorandum of understanding and committed to a focused action plan aimed at providing on-ground support through training, improved access to finance, and measures to enhance exports.

She noted SMEDA's ongoing efforts, including a three-year Business Plan focused on cluster development, as part of a broader initiative under the guidance of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan. These efforts have already engaged SME clusters across the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's support for collaboration between SMEDA and TDAP to boost MSME initiatives was underscored by Ms. Seth. She appointed Mr. Sheharyar Tahir as the focal person for SMEDA to coordinate with TDAP, while Director General TDAP Punjab Rafia Syed will represent TDAP in this capacity.

He also called for regular coordination meetings to ensure measurable outcomes.
